Functional Training is where we work on your ability to perform a specific task during your everyday life or an upcoming event. Some examples include:
Improving your ability to play with your kids or grandkids
Being able to get out and put away boxes from the top shelf
Carrying heavy items across the yard while gardening
Improving balance while walking on grass or other uneven surfaces so you can take that bucket list trip
Improving cardiovascular endurance for dancing at that wedding
Improving comfort and knowledge of common gym spaces and equipment
The possibilities are endless.
Functional Training is NOT:
Sports/Work Performance Training. I do this, depending on your sport/job or performance goals. However, performance is generally a higher bar than functional training. If I'm not your best resource for your particular goals, I'll send you to someone else.
Physical Therapy. I do this! But it's a different service. I know. Arguably, all physical therapy is functional training. BUT! Not all functional training is physical therapy. If you are actively broken, check out the physical therapy page. A Program for Weight Loss. I don't do that. If you want a weight loss program, I can give you contacts to other professionals who excel at that.
Nutrition/Dietetics. I also don't do that. I may give suggestions here and there, but if you want specific, in-depth help with your diet, I know other professionals who excel at this also.
