My hip injury is completely absent, although it did [take some time] and discipline on my part. I was so happy when I could do the things I enjoyed doing without pain for the first time in the MONTHS I was too dumb to seek help. I was told by someone with the same injury that surgery was inevitable, Zoe proved that to be false.
Don't waste any more time, see Zoe!"

Work Reconditioning is the in-between phase of full-on physical therapy and full Return to Work. This is where we really learn that capacity for activity (having the strength/speed/range) DOES NOT necessarily equate tolerance, and visa versa.
In this phase, the main focus is two-fold:
We are trying to increase your ability to tolerate performing at a level that is satisfactory to your particular job duties. A mechanic is going to have a different bar for return to work than a firefighter.
We are trying to help you navigate and bolster you against problems that can come up along the way. If you go through rehab and we have huge changes in mobility, strength, etc, your body is going to have some adjustment pains while you recondition to full-on work. While these pains themselves are not an issue, they can definitely become an issue if they are not addressed in a timely and appropriate fashion.
The Reconditioning Phase is a spot where there is often minimal need for manual therapy or modalities (electrical stimulation, ultrasound, dry needling, etc). You mostly need exercises that will help you build capacity and tolerance for your job.
There is a term coined in the PT world called the "Industrial Athlete." Your job is demanding and repetitive, much like a sport. Work Training focuses on increasing your speed, power, strength, mobility, endurance, balance, and coordination as it applies to your job.
Work training also has the added benefit of improving your confidence at work, especially if you have a high-stress or labor-intensive job. This can, in turn, improve your ability to make the best decision in the heat of the moment.
Work Training is ideal for the worker who has a high-stress or labor-intensive job, such as:
First Responders (LEO, Fire, EMS)
Military
Nurses
Mechanics
Tradesmen (Construction, Welders, etc)
